Caleb's private "room" (23-Feb)Another week had just flew past. But with Caleb, time seem to have come to a standstill. It is our baby's 3rd week of stay in NICU. Intially we thought he can be home with us at the end of 3rd week. That's our wishful thinking. "Be patient... with prem babies, things can't be rushed" the NICU nurses told us. Yea, we know. Of course. What to do... we just have to keep our chins up & wait ... patiently... for ... a few more weeks.
zzzzz...nuzzling in mummy's arms (24-feb)
Caleb's progress has been good until last week 22nd. The machine he was hooked onto was tinking away while we were there. His respiratory is not good. It was hovering around 80 to 85 (normal level is 100). We were told that it was common after their feed because some of the milk were still in the oesophagus. However, his breathing does not improve after 2 days, even before feeds. Dr Yip suspects that there might be fluid in his lungs - common for premmies because of their congested lungs. An x-ray confirms it. Caleb was then given some oxygen in his incubator to help him breath better. He was also given medication to help him pass out the fluid (in his urine ... amazing drugs!).
Sound asleep ... zzzz (26th Feb)Our little man is doing better these 2 days. His breathing has improved & nurses will reduce the assistance of oxygen gradually. However, he need to continue with the medication for a week. Gambate, darling!
Today's weight 27th Feb: 1.836kg.
Feed increase to 40ml.
